A foul smell has descended on much of the New Orleans region this morning. Officials say it isn't dangerous, but people report getting light headed and nauseated.
A workers at the St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center told WWL First News, "Dow had a unit get upset. It released a bad odor. It is non-toxic. It's non-hazardous. It's not dangerous as far as we know right now."
The St. Charles EOC identifies the source of the odor as Ethyl Acrylate.
Officials say the weather is also playing a role in the stinky conditions. "The rain is just basically keeping the odor around."They have not issued any evacuations or health advisories.
